Hi all,

Thanks for all your responses to my last thread (DHCP Sniffer), all replies are really appreciated.

Now on to a niggling problem. I have been given a number of 255's which have the alex update. So as I understand it's a case of running console unlocker to open the modem for communication and then run softjtag to write a previous bootloader.

Every time I do this though it seems to time out in softjtag and then renders the modem bricked. It has done this too me three times now and is really getting annoying. I have all the required files .net, j# and the three ocx files registered.

It seems to work fine but then times out. Why?

Please help as this is gtting very tedious!

is it the same point that it crashes in softjtag? if so maybe a corrupt flash bin file you have.

Have you tried any other versions of jtag as there's 4 out...

if you want the bricks fixed then mail me.

What version of windoze are you running?

I am using Vista and SoftJtag v3.10

Works with no problem. Using other versions I was getting errors.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you all. I have tried both 3.1 and 3.01 and currently running Windows XP Sp3.

Does this help.

Also I don't know if it is related but the ones I have tried have all required a replacement tsop chip. COuld it be motherboard at fault. please help.

Just to pitch in here I have exactly the same problem as you birch1983. Using vista and softjtag 3.10 it starts to flash the bootloader just as it appears to be working I get the dreaded blue screen meaning I to restart which leaves me with a doorstop. I am eager to also find a solution for this.

Yep i get the blue screen or else it just stops flashing about 2mins into it.
Iv never got it working - vista & iv tried all versions of softjtag. i just give up on it

hehe i had this problem before all i did was NOT take the power lead out of the modem and then restart my pc open up AMbit Config Tool beta 96 run the button called FLASHBOOT loader then that would error then i would close that making sure my modem was still on then run Soft Jag & re flash it with the new Bootloader.bin which i got from wizzardmods

Just make sure you dont turn of the modem and you will be fine..

All mine that crashed are now running fine
