Default Satellite dish installation in a loft

Hi there,

I'm a complete newbie and I have just bought a Pioneer TV with a separate media box complete with a built in satellite decoder. I like the idea of satellite TV ( I currently get TV through Virgin Media via cable) but don't like the idea of the dish so much. Is it possible to install a dish in a loft or must it have line-of-sight to the satellite?

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I too wondered this, but afaik it should certainly be possible. There are loft installation kits available over the web, so I don't see why not, given there would be no market for such a product if it didn't work!

Must be line of sight, it can work through a window (will lose some signal).

It won't work in a loft.

If you really don't like the look of a satellite dish, either pay lots of money for one that looks like something else ( a garden light for example-

or tuck it away somewhere on the roof, or in the garden beind a tree. Whatever though, it needs line of sight. It would work through plastic sheeting though.

Thanks for clarifying the matter, does this actually mean there really is NO use for loft mounting kits then? How can retailers sell such if they won't even work?

I have never seen any, do you have a link?

Aerials work inside lofts OK.
