Forgot Windows Password HELP!!!!

A friend of mine has stupidly forgotten their password to log into windows. It's the only account on the computer and i don't know any way of getting into the account.

It's windows vista btw

Any help appreciated.

not sure about this one, but you could try loading xp in safe mode, maybe that will bypass the password and let you either remove it or change it. Not sure though just my best guess.

Hello, I had this problem with my sisters computer and I was advised to type in Administrator in the username and leave the password blank and it should bypass the system and you can then reset the password in windows.

Thats XP only - doesnt work with vista - that security hole has been closed

each to their own i guess, after all we all trying to help. anyway i never got an answer to my suggestion of loading windows in safe mode !!!! does that work ( without me having to try it )
not a boffin here on pc,s but plenty of self taught stuff. wot about u lennono, u a boffin ?? could do with more boffins, more the merryier

no mate,i`m a sat forum guy myself,tend to trust what other sat forum members say though and haven`t been let down yet.Not even bill gates can get his pc`s work right so......
