Hello, I recently recieved this box from virgin, it was addressed to the occupant whoi lived at my address previously. I listed it on ebay as the modding of it sounds too complex for me but they removed it.
Any help/comments/suggestions welcome Thanks Last edited by jimbo; 25-03-09 at 04:47 PM. |

I have a similar box, I have the BK and IRD but it hasn't been activated so I can't use it
. There may be a work around in the future but it will be a while off yet. We will need the ability to be able to activate the boxes from home which right now is virtually impossible.

I have a samsung 2110c and the nagravision B smartcard that was used with that cable decoder (it was in use 2 years ago).
Also I've got a CAS 3 plus programmer. What steps should I do in order to watch free? Do i have to modify the decoder ? Like removing R414 & R413 - C427 & C428 tackbalk caps, or this is an old technique? How can I can I modify the smartcard into MOSC ? In my research I've found that I need to unloop the card by some way and then to reprogram it with nagraedit and a new bin file? Also do I need first to get the box key and the IRD activation code? Thanks in advance, Leo |

You need to modify the card to watch all channels. Yes, those four caps you mentioned are talkback and to stop the box from buzzing and freezing. Yes, you will need to unloop the card using an unlooper, I personally use the T911 but there are more out there. You can then program the card using your CAS Programmer (in Phoenix 3.68MHz Mode) and Nagra Edit to write the image. You can't get the Box Key until you have unlooped the card, the IRD can be got from converting the Nagra Serial Code in the EM. Do a search for Nagra Serial Code in the main forum and you should find out how to do it
.

So firstly I need to remove the four caps (I don't know how to do this..)
I have already unmounted the mainboard of the decoder. C427 & C428 seems to have cap, but R413 & R414 seems don;t to have). What are these caps? Are similar to jumpers? How can I remove them? So far I don't ask anything more since I ve to do that first.. Thanks again for your help |

Hi
I just get a long nosed pliers and simply break them off or you can use a screwdriver or similar but be carful not damage anything else. I would have tried to loop the card 1st to see if it looks a legit bk, I hope you didnt put this card and box on stream to check cos then card could have got hit with a "deac" hit. Regards |

OK that's good since I've got needle-nose pliers to do that.
But can you please explain (describe) what I'm doing exactly..As I've stated before C427 & C428 seems to have a cap, but R413 & R414 seems don't to have, is that correct? Cap is the silver finishing, like soldered iron? Does it work like a jumper? No, I haven't tried yet to do anything. I've only unmounted the decoder's board. Regarding the unlooping I don't know to do it, I only own a CAS 3 plus programmer.. Do we still need to use an unlooper to unlock the card, or is it possible to do this with a programmer? Also, should I look first to find the ird before I will unloop the card and how can I do that? Thanks in advance |
