Default freecom classic hd problem

hi every 1 just woundered if any 1 could help with a problem i have, i have a freecom classic hd 160g, i the power point on it keeps failing i want to put it in my pc tower and use as a second drive, can any 1 tell me how to do it and what other cables i need, thanks for ur helpsorry to say it a freecom classic external hd

An external HDD is the same as an internal one, only in an outside case. You can get inside the case by taking out screws. You need to identify if its an IDE or SATA connection. Once established, you can either set as a slave (IDE). Or simply connect to one of the SATA headers on your motherboards (No primary and slave, each SATA uses its own individual socket).

hi just took the case off and its says ide/sata drive will it matter as its says both or will i need a diffrent connection thanks

It (the drive itself) can only be one or the other, but the case may support both
If it (the drive) has a wide double row of pins (i think its 44) on the back, it is an IDE drive, and will have a small jumper set next to them to allow setting of master or slave (if its the only drive on that particular IDE cable it doesnt matter- otherwise set to opposite whatever the other drive on the same cable is.)

If its a sata drive the row of pins wont be there. instead it will have two black plastic 'L' shaped connecters close together.
