Lighter Windows

Taken from: pannikos.com

I, like many other Windows XP users am sick of the clutter XP makes when it is installed on my computer. All I want is a lighter windows! There are so many useless things that are installed on my computer, things that I'll never use. So many applications and services running, sucking up valuable resources. So I did a little research to see if it was possible to "thin out" my Windows XP; the results are pretty impressive.

I first checked to see if there where any premodded version of XP on forums and other sites and what I found pleased me. Just by doing a search for Windows XP lite you can find different version of XP SP2 as small as 159 megs (iso file). I installed different versions of these XP Lite editions on my laptop just to see their functionality and was somewhat dissapointed beacuse of the lack of some services that where essential to me.

I then asked myself if I was able to make my own thinned out version of Windows XP. So I went on XP modding sites, I read FAQs on how to slipstream..... It was all chinese to me (no offense). I was looking for the lazy man's way to mod my XP and I found the answer; a little program designed for people just like me!

The program is called nLite and is available FREE for anyone who whishes to get rid of the clutter! It is available at http://www.nliteos.com/index.html. Very simple install, plus excellent help on forums for those who aren't sure how to use it.

Now, to go along with this beautiful new install of Windows that I got, I will list other program that you can use to de-klunk your windows and keep it running "smooth".
