Ranging and Encryption Question

Hi First of all i wanted to ask is that what affects the ranging before it loads config file.

Thing is my bro got a subbd modem in his room we got 2 cable boxes and a clone in my room.

The ranging on my clone completes succesfully when cable boxes are not on or subbd modem is not on (I THINK). when they are on it never completes ranging therefore giving me a no ranging response in the event log. It never connects and if it does it goes off straight away and then carry on scanning frequency. It locks onto downstream but doesnt lock on to upstream.

Does that mean im splitting the connection too many times therefore not connecting?


Secondly My config files are Encrypted. I live in the oldham are and my mate who lives 5 mins away i done a cloned modem for him and cofig was showing like normal and didnt look encrypted. Whats up with that?
