I have a 200 with a BTC-90 flash chip here running fine

You can't use just any firmware though. I run original NTL firmware which has the Telnet shell enabled - works fine, except you can't any exciting things like force a config.

Would be nice to use better firmware though.

i would just recommend getting a 250 although as stated above you can mod them with sigma firmware

NTL 200 modem Hi, I'm new to this so I've been trawling through all the posts trying to find any thing relating to the NTL200. I've been on ebay and bought a serial to usb as my PC does not have serial. I bought 2 NTL200 (silver) modems for £1 which i thought was good for me to try on and see if i can do this. I have plenty of spare time coming up, retirement due soon and want to keep the gray matter active. I opened both up and the chip reads as follows:

I bought a Serial to USB lead
MAX232 MODEM UPGRADE ADAPTOR

Software:
haxorware11rev32
Console_Unlocker_v1.1b
SolarWinds-TFTP-Server
SoftJtag___2.1.6d_Bootloader
Putty

I think I've got everything i need and maybe more.

Now can you tell me which is best software way for flashing the NTL 200
On doinit4thelulz I was told the Sigma f/w was the one to use.
Please help

Yeah sorry I couldn't answer that better on doinit4thelulz but I just didn't know. From what I read above it seems that you can do it with Blackcat. Best way IMO.

The SB5100MOD was the 1 bit of software I didn't have but now I do. I'll be doing it 2morrow so will let you know how I got on, hopefully OK.

what is the chip? as G77 said if its flash chip which ends in btc-90 then you cant put any firmware, otherwise, yeah u can t put sigma or SB5100MOD, blackcat is the best to use it buy u can also use max232 as long as u have the P option.
