Default missing channels when through splitter

when i run my box through a splitter from maplins i lose channels such as
sky sports 1
2
3
but i still have channels such as setanta, mtv etc. . ..
when i disconnect the splitter i have all the channels?

is there anyway round this? a booster or something i can purchase? thanks

Try a 10db attenuater, or a cable signal booster m8...

The missing channels will be due to too high or too low a signal.

Given they appear to work without the splitter, and fail to work with it, it would suggest the signal in your case would be too low.

There are plenty of boosters you could buy, as this is what you will need, attentuators lower the signal, something you obviously don't require if the channels work without the splitter. (This is because splitters lower the signal, roughly by 3-6dbs per split of the feed eg: original feed is 36db, split that, each feed would get 30-33db, more you split weaker it gets).

You will need a CATV signal amplifier, and if you will be using a modem on any of the feeds you are boosting, ensure you buy a booster with a return path, otherwise your modem will not be able to sync properly with the network, and may not get online at all (had this issue myself using a non return path booster).

Konig make a good 'Yellow brick' amplifier, usually found on ebay, known as the Konig CATV signal amplifier.

i spelt it wrong m8,, you can get them from maplins or ebay..

does the 1 from maplins have a return path thing so i can run a modem on it? theres quite a few can u recommend 1 i should get?

how easy is this to install? and does it require power?
