speedtest, newsgroups, torrent downloads. try them all you can try 2 speedtest on the same server and more than likely get to diffrent results.

Hi I can get just under 10mb on speed test but can only download at 1-4mb max what joke. I think im going to do away with cable BB and get sky.

Oh all so on a side note how the hell can VM say im on 10Mb fibre optic broadband its a load off bull for a number of resons

The cable out side the house is around 8 years old maybe older I was told this buy VM over the phone befor I hade cable.
(I was told I would have new cable fitted but did not get it )

Next
The cable from the box out side to my place is 8 years old maybe older so it cant be fibre optic.
The cable thats fitted in my house is not fibre optic so how can VM say im getting 10Mb fibre optic broadband ?.

I asked a guy from VM today about it he told me that the fibre optic cables feed the cable box's out side. But my question is how do we know that there is a Fiber optic feed to the box ?. And how can we be getting true Fiber optic BB is we dont get or own Fiber optic cable.

Rant over lol.
On a side note I think some of thete tv channels looks better then sky's not so much noise in the picture

They say upto 10mb, i know a rite con (always read the smallprint, lol), you could use a modded modem to get what you pay for, ;0). I pay for 2mb and believe its being upgraded to ten for free.I think the cable and sky prefences are just a case of each to there own.

This relatively easy to answer.

VM use fibre-to-the-cabinet technology, the bandwidth between your house and your street cab will never exceed that which coaxial cable is capable of transfering.

Thus you have no need for fibre to the home.

Its why the network is called a Hybrid Fibre Coax network.

I used to have sky and it was awful, took about two months before they got it working properly and the speeds wasnt that quick and the green box is only two doors down. I have the 10mb now and i think its awesome compared to sky. I also trialed the 50mb and that is the best ever just not paying 35 quid for it

Hi m8 i had sky at my old place I was only on the 8mb and I only got 3 meg. But it was all ways on no slowdown and all ways working. When I say Im close I dont mean to a box I mean to BT Exchange I can look from the top of my roof and see it.

Im not saying for 1 min that I will get a full 16mb but 8mb will do as lons as theres no slowing down like on cable. I cant work the cable out I get fast speed test but poor download speeds at just about any time of the day.
655m away from the exchange
