More to the point, paying for it ensures it remains a service available to you, regardless of whether it can be gotten for free, you should always pay a sub, even if only the minimum.

Also, if the subbed modem is still up while the modded is down for example, it proves it not the cable feed.

VM charges practically nothing for its 10 meg service these days, and even during peak hours that gives roughly 5-6meg, most people should have no need for anything more than this.

I've got two sb5100i surfboard modems one has been on the system without turning off or getting kick but the other one I cannot get to stay on for over ten minutes until I get kicked off.

I've changed the pc nic mac & modem mac about 30 times, I have even used the same mac & serial thats in the working modem but it still gets kicked.
so what I want to is to take a 2mb backup from the working modem and flash the non working modem, it will then copy all the settings from the working one to the non working one, so in theroy I will clone a clone lol

I want to capture everything from one modem and transfer it to the other one will the 2mb backup do the job?

will now troll through telnet logs and see if I can find the settings to make my 250 do the same....

Don't do it from the 2mb.

You do it from the NonVol.
