Has anyone had a new viewing card sent to them yet?

Doubt it - the first releases are supposed to be "April".

There have been a couple of reports of "Insert new viewing card" messages being seen on screen though

I spoke to an aquaintnece who works for sky (not an engineer) who told me that the new cards are because NDS was on the verge of being broken. The changeover will cost them £300k.

I make no claim as to the truth of this, I'm not even sure if I believe it myself. Just thought I would pass it on.

I think it will be a bit more than £300k. That wont even cover the postage of the cards.

A LOT more

Theres over 9 million cards to be swapped out, even if the cards cost a penny each purchased in bulk thats 90000 quid for starters. Plus the postage plus all the staff costs.

I did the same calculations a/s and Jim which is why i'm not sure about it. I don't see why he would lie to me though. My thought is that is what sky want people to think and they want to keep the real reason to themselves.

Reported on another forum that they are arriving. On pimps one guys has got his and put it into his sly box after that it is paired to the box. He tried it in his linux boxs and he got no premium channels and the card got very hot very quick within minuets. Rumour has it don't put it in your sly box.
