This is what was making me think my modem had been 'bricked' by Virmin somehow. And its happened at the same time 50 meg has just been enabled in this area !

If you can connect to the modem and reflash it, it's definitely not bricked.

Where are you getting the error "Your modem does not have a valid ip configuration" from?

Mike

modem is only bricked when you have deleted/corrupted the bootloader the firmware can be reflashed.

Cheers M8, Went into control panel, manage network connections, properties, internet protocol version 4, properties, use the following ip address, 192.168.100.11, 255.255.255.0, 192.168.100.1. Applied this and reset. I could still access the modem but still the same error message. Changed the ethernet cable, still exactly the same.

Have you tried "reset to factory settings, which will reset all the settings in the modem.
all you should need to do is put your mac in,(try a 2mbit mac dont force anything) let it find freq should take about 5mins.

failing that, turn on telnet (make sure you know the user & password) goto your run command click start button then click run type "cmd" then type telnet then type
o 192.168.100.1

that will take you in to the modem enter your user & password, if its scrolling looking for a freq just type cd cm hit enter scan_s hit enter, you wont see what your typing as the freq is still scrolling.

when it stops type cd / hit enter type:

Reset non-vol memory
cd non
clear_device
flush
defaults
write

this will clear all the old setting which Infinite had, connect your VM cable and let it find freq after this you should be on line.

Hi, I got the modem back off the guy today but he was unable to do anything with it .I found out that if i plug my router back in i no longer get the '' your network adapter does not have a valid ip connection '' message. Why this message comes up just because the router was taken out of the circuit ive no idea.
I have reflashed Hax 1.1 back on the the modem but i am still unable to get it to connect no matter what i do . I have spoofed my nic mac again but made no diffference, tried factory resetting the modem etc.
Can anyone tell me exactly what im supposed to be putting in the settings for haxorware 1.1, im in Teesside, if anyone has a working setup please let me know, Cheers!
