Default Has my 255 been bricked ?

Hi guys, my Ambit 255 wont connect up anymore and I keep getting the message ''your modem does not have a valid ip configuration''.
I have just updated the firmware from Infinate to Haxorware hoping that would solve it but it didnt.
I was told that Virmin must have bricked my modem but then i read on here that if it was bricked, only the power light would be on.
On mine the power, enet, send and receive lights are all on so im confused.
Any ideas anyone?

Cheers Lee i will reflash Haxorware again and see if it makes a difference.
Anyone got any idea why i would be getting the ''your modem does not have a valid ip configuration'' message? This has been happening since Wednesday.

It's not the flash mate, have you set you static IP to 192.168.100.10 & 192.168.100.1?

Just tried that m8, didnt work. Doing exactly the same thing !
Went funny the other day when had Infinate installed and flashing Hax made no difference so i think its something else other than the firmware. No matter what i put in GUI, always the same error !

have a read through this guide pal Haxor to Sync Guide. may be able to help.its more than likely a setting you put in wrong.

A modem gets "bricked" when there is no firmware on it, or the firmware is so corrupt that it won't run. On a 255, the only solution is to lift the TSOP chip and reprogram it externally - or replace the chip with one that has firmware on it already. If you can connect to the modem and reflash it, it's definitely not bricked.

Where are you getting the error "Your modem does not have a valid ip configuration" from?

Cheers@ Parricull, ive just looked through that guide m8 and went through the settings, rebooted and its just the same.
@ Micky I get this message when i plug the modem in. Im using Vista so i go control panel/ network and sharing centre an there, the globe on the right hand side would be blue if connected but its grey so i go View status, diagnose, brings up Automatically get new ip settings, your network adapter does not have a valid ip configuration (this is new) and reset the network adapter.
Whatever i choose, it always brings back the same options after refresh.
This has only been happening since Wednesday and I hadnt touched any internet settings for weeks, it was just like that when i turned on the PC !

OK, then if it was my modem I'd assign a static IP to my computer, 192.168.100.10. Then I'd see if I could access the modem status page on http://192.168.100.1

Assuming I can, I'd change the Mac address of my Nic and the modem, then reset my IP to dynamic and see what happens...
