just some quick advice please

Given a virgin modem brand new in a brown box its a ambit 256 , opend it up and there is no 232 connector , stupid question but how do we mess with the firmware is it all done over tcp/ip ?

unless you bought it of a trader you wont get a 232 with it, you either need to buy one or make your own, plus if its not of a trader then you will probably need to program the chip as 256,s arnt like 250,s where you can just plug your 232 in and do you stuff, if you have a look around the forum you will find info on what you need to get going.

I think he meant that there is no serial connection inside the modem.

yer found the help a need putting it here as an answere for easier searching

1. went on ebay did a search
2. found AMBIT 256 8pin HAXORWARE 1.1 Rev31 PRE-FLASHED CHIPS

4.80 +199p&p

then its a simple lift ad a resolder and voila.


just a bit worried if its worth all the effort with the current vermin onslaught against us.

Yes it should be.

Once you have the chip in you can always modify again.

I think once you have changed the SPI chip it is basically a 250/255.
