The cheap scart cables are not screened properly, and can cause ghosting to appear from the channel the TV tuner is tuned to. The quality cables should cure it. Or pin 19 at the TV end can be cut.

Load of codswallop, gold, platinum, tin plated all do the same, only thing gold plated sacrts do is fool dudes like you into believing yer getting something more suppieror to an ordinary scart.
if yer still not convinced then send me a tenner and I'll send you a quality scart lead over that I can buy for £1 at the local poundland shop. AJ

Not entirely true.
The cheap scart cables are not screened properly, and can cause ghosting to appear from the channel the TV tuner is tuned to. The quality cables should cure it. Or pin 19 at the TV end can be cut. Rubbish, another one fooled into believing the gold plated scarts are the cure, same as stated above, I'll sell yer a quality scart lead for a tenner which I can get from poundland and it will be just as good as a gold one but £9 cheaper. always bought my scart cables from the pound shop, never had a problem. even test it against a £20 scart lead, no difference at all, its a matter of opinion aswell.

Hi,
Have a look at the link below: UK Gold-plated TV, VCR and DVD Scart Lead and Cable Supplier If you scroll down there is a gold plated scart lead @ £2.50. I have noticed that this has caused a lot of differant opinions , but at the price may as well go for the Gold one!

Gold plated scart leads will have a slightly better picture but not worth the extra cost. there is a big difference however if the 2 connectors the scart plugs into both have gold plating as well but your salesmen at currys/comet or wherever will neglect to tell you these things.
