Default New Technomate 5200D USB Super

So I've just got my hands on this new box and have no idea where to go from here.

From Technomate.com, there's the "TM-Loader For TM-1000-5000-6000 Series" loader and "Technaomte-TM5300D_5200D_SUPER_111_06-03-2009.stb" (firmware?) file. Should I update my machine with these files?

After that, where do I go, do you know?

I understand that things are tight, so I'm not asking for links, or anything like that, but just pointers, like. You know, should I now patch it, should I follow the 1000 series instructional thread, stickied in this sub-forum?

Any help at all would be appreciated, because I'm a real newb on the matter and can't seem to find much information anywhere.

You don't need to load any software from the technomate site. This will only give you free to air stuff. You need to find a forum that has all the latest patchs.

You download the latest patch onto a usb stick unzipped and then shove it into the usb slot. Then follow the instuctions on screen or posted on another site. You then need to load the latest softcam the same way. These are the keys to compliment the patch.

Follow this guide as take from satdownloads

Hi guys and welcome,

I've had my box a few weeks now and yes its honestly a absolute doddle to update.

The patches and softcam files are kindly put up for us on here. All you do is d/load them. transfer the unzipped files onto your usb stick, shove it in your reciever and it will tell you to please wait. When that screen is gone you hit menu/usb/data transfer or green button(shortcut) and data transfer. Select the file off your stick and hit OK. The file will load, exit out when loaded and tune to France4 on hotbird. Receiver will say "please wait" and then you are done. Pull out the USB stick for loading next time. Just follow any extra instructions that are with the patches or softcams, ie A/U info. Great little boxes mate and a good price too. With thanks to rit

++ since this was 1st posted there has been mention that the usb stick is sometimes not read, if you have this problem then please read on++

these are my findings with a 5400 USB receiver straight out of the box<

You MUST first update the receiver with technomates latest firmware/software from their own website and load it into the receiver via usb dongle (easiest method). then and only then will the new receiver fully understand and know how to correctly read the USB dongle.

Once you have done the manufacturers update you can then read other files on the dongle such as Darkmans patch and other extra items.

for some reason straight out of the box it cannot read or understand anything other than manufacturers update files.

Cheers,
Spinifex.

With thanks the spiniflex.

There are some technomate files in the Private FTA download links (look in cable section). You may need to use a null-modem cable to flash the box for the first time, USB does work after that.

If you can't get on alsat try geronimosden.com

that geronimosden link is gold, thank you, much more organised and easier to navigate than alsat. I've now got the machine loaded and patched up as current as possible. the only thing now is that I've gotta add one thing to my setup, a motorised dish. currently only have a static one that's pointed directly at 28.2E, but some of the fun channels are on many of the other satellites that I'd like to take a look at.

Yes, a patched 5200 will give you nothing at all extra on 28E.

getcha, was thinking that myself. which satellites should I be scanning? is there anywhere a list of this sort of information, or is it all just kept within closed forums?
