That's my understanding anyway.
They don't allow you to register a modem, no? So what is the Virgin Activation Page all about then? Registering modems isn't it? You phone them, they register your docsis compliant modem.

And who said they supplied a second cloned modem? You obviously have to supply and clone yourself.

Please try to grasp that if you pay for your service and use your own equipment within your contracted limits, then you are doing no wrong.

lol, you seem to have a chip on your shoulder

Why do you think I said "That is my understanding"?

If you would like to ring VM and ask them and then post results, please do!

If they say otherwise, I'll stand corrected!

Until then

No, I don't have a chip on mys shoulder just because I explain things how they are, Lee-ds. But I'm sorry if it appears that way.

When VM replace your modem you have to call them and give them the MAC of the new one when it arrives. So I don't see what would stop you from trying it with another.

In the USA it is common practice to have your own (unmodded) cable modem to avoid cable co rental charges.

Sorry, one more analogy.

If I pay for all the TV channels on VM, and I prefer to use a Dreambox, am I stealing?

Hence VM activation page????? (as per your previous post)

We're not in the USA pmsl
Like I say, give them a ring and ask them. If I'm wrong, I'll gladly apologise for any mis-information given.

No, maybe not stealing, but you would be breaking the law via T&C.

Terms and Conditions are not the law mate.

At the most they could suspend your service.

It's only fair and right that you should be able to use your equipment as long as you ain't stealing anything by way of uncapping etc.

I'm talking ethics, not terms and conditions.

Virgin breach their own terms and conditions anyway! And if they can't catch the people that ain't paying anything, what chance have they got of catching a paying customer using a third party modem?

And who said anything about us being in the USA?

Flash again mate....
