First thing is are the disks smudged or badly scratched. If not then you should try to clean the laser lens. Either use a cleaning disk(easy) or if you are up to it you could take it apart but make sure it is unplugged before you take off the cover. Do this at your own risk. If that doesn't cure it then it is probably a faulty laser assembly.
