Default Re: The Layman's guide to flashing Ambit Cable Modems

Hey guys, I have followed this guide and the many like it and installed every programme that is commonly used and tried all sorts of ideas and I am worse off than I was before I started and I think there is a little thing missing from my plan and I was hoping that someone could spot it and hit in the side of the head with a bit of advice?

I have an ambit 250 that has already been flashed and I bought the max232 cable from TMC. I have a serial cable connected to COM1 and I am using windows 7. I do not get anything in hyperterminal, blank screen and occasionally a lot of weird symbols and nothing else.
I have tried console unlocker many many many times with firewalls off and kaspersky closed and all the ways suggested to me and it never worked and I also tried this with an ambit 250 that has never been flashed, and it would not work.
I have tried using putty and pumpking and lots of other programmes that I have downloaded I have lots of firmware files and everything is a mess and I justw ant to know why this is so difficult for me when there people out there who are doing this with no problems at all.

There must be something in the equation that I am doing wrong, I appreciate this guide fully I really do but how am I struggling to see any results from it? Thats a fortnight Ive been on this and I am losing the plot now.

If anyone has the time to give me some sort of idea as to what I should do next, then thank you!

Cheers!!!!!!!

Here you go m8. Use search mate. All info has probably been posted 30 times elsewhere in the forum! Strange how useful info gets buried under new posts, then even newer posts are asking questions answered in the buried posts!

regards, Matty

EDIT Sorry cannot post files on here!
