Smile Discover (is it reliable)

Just a quicky as some ppl are aware on here ive had trouble fining macs with configs but the 2 i found few day ago were to close to me and kept disconecting and they have never come up again on sniff since now i dont get any...So i typed them into the DISCOVER option on DHCPforce and DHCPSniffer and they never come up...anyone got any ideas why not??
cos i dont think the option actually works on either programme

For me it only works with some MACS.

I read somewhere if you change a digit in the 5th group of the MAC address then hit discover you may (or may not) get better results.

also the setting for media sense enable or disabled on dhcpforce is there a preference and what does it mean?

Set it to disable.

Don't know why read it in a guide...

Media sense means basically the ethernet cable itself, being the medium the data travels on, maybe sensing the type whether straight through or crossover. Not entirely sure, that's from memory.

Anyone know if i wanna sniff for macs to use on a VM connection does it have to be from another pc using VM broadband or does it matter if they are on a BT broadband setup?

It stands to reason that to sniff the VM network you need to be connected to it.
