what does the old audio cable look like.or where can i buy one..that sounds like the option

Look at the connector inside the modem. You will see.

It is called a console cable I think you can buy them from Maplins.

got it.yes.the audio cable of an old mobo i had,is right.the white plug fits.so i got 3 wires on the other end with a black plug.gotta connect them to a printer plug now?

do i wire it to a max232.how do i go about that.

You need your MAX232, and the one time I will refer you to it, the Haynes Cable Modem Manual has the wiring diagram for the Webstar serial pinout as it is different to the Ambit's serial pinout.
