Telnet Access
set your telnet user & pass in your sb5100mod firmware administration, open a Command Prompt type telnet then type o 192.168.100.1 enter user & pass. if the screen is scrolling looking for freq type: cd cm enter scan_s enter cd / enter you might not be able to see what your typin as the screen is scrollin just carry on typin. then you can go into whatever area in the modem. but read up on telnet cmds and what to look for, YOU will kill your modem if you dont know what your doing!

Yeah, webstars are really easy. They also have the four pin serial converter on the board, and they always have the "p" option.
Don't JTAG a webby unless you absolutely have to. The serial connection is both physically different and wired different to the ambits, so you're ambit max23 extensions will not work. You need to either buy a ready prepared cable for a webby, or make one yourself out of an old cd audio cable connection. It's just a matter if connecting one end to your max232 and the other to guts of the modem. Benefit of the JTAG is its very easy to unbrick. I know I'm going a bit off topic here.... Just take care when doing your first webby, and if you HAVE to jtag, often the webby comes without a header in place and you will need to solder one. Be very careful removing the solder from the plated through holes and make sure that you use solder wick. On my first attempt I tried to use nothing but the iron itself to remove the solder (I know, I know) and ruined the plating in the holes. On that note, I will soon be trying a TSOP removal and refitting now I have something to try on! In fact, for JTAGging the webby if it has no header I highly recommend the pogo pins. You can't leave them attached for future flashing, but hell, they are very quick and easy to use with no mess or soldering iron burns in sight. I have since learnt how to solder pin headers on properly, but to be honest, I highly favour the pogo pins just for their sheer ease of use, and the fact that they are a tool in their own right with no mess making or wasteage. |
