Hi andyrees,
welcome to the forum.

You can certainly pick up the satellite but the dish size required depends on the channels you want to view, as they transmit on different footprints, for example try the following links for lyngsat.com:
For Digi TV channels:
_http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/digi.html

Some channels use the T2 footprint:
_http://www.lyngsat-maps.com/maps/thor5_t2.html
Where as most use the spot 3:
_http://www.lyngsat-maps.com/maps/intel1002_spot3.html

You can see the different size dish recommended.
Then for Canal Digital:
_http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/canaldigital.html

Some channels use the T1 footprint:
_http://www.lyngsat-maps.com/maps/thor5_t1.html
The HD channels use the T2:
_http://www.lyngsat-maps.com/maps/thor5_t2.html
and some use the Nordic and Central Europe:
_http://www.lyngsat-maps.com/maps/thor3.html

As you can see you can pick up some channels on a small dish, but for others you need a much larger dish.

Without knowing which channels you're after we can't tell you which size dish you require.

Hi There!

Yes you can- i can pick up thor with a 1.1m diameter dish in Ballymena. I think a 1.0m would work just as well.

Yes, a 1m dish will do it, as stated by an installer from that area that I know.

Hi Robbo!,

Can your installer contact in Northern Ireland confirm if he has ever managed to lock onto the showtime package on Nilesat here…and if so what dish size was required.

Thanks

Trev

You can forget Showtime Nilesat in Northern Ireland unless you want a very big dish indeed in the garden.

You are probably looking at a 3.5m dish, possibly bigger - thats over 10 FEET in diameter!
