Hi again, just a quick one, am i right in thinking if i get a pcae box with card thats been locked by vm, the only way of retrieving bk is via jtag? and the only benefit of unlooping the card is to create a MOSC with it?

Was just thinking of the simplist way of doing this, if this is the case it would be to buy a jtag and use a fun card for each box?

never used jtag but would imagine you can still use a mosc coz aslong as you got the ird and bk you can just use nagraedit to make your mosc.hope this helps

Or do you get the correct bk off unlooped cards.

i take it the card has been modded before? if not it should just need unlooping.have you tryed reading the card in nagraedit?

No its hasnt been modded before, i only bought the box the other day (came with card), but to my disapointement the cards locked, but i thought locked cards gave false bk's.

im confused now

You can't JTAG the box unless it's a Pace 4000 or Samsung 2100c. You can get the BK from any box as long as the card is paired, the only thing you need to do is unloop it and read it in Nagra Edit.

The card being locked is normal, all ordinary smartcards will have had the update that locks them when you try to read them, you can unloop and get bk.
The false bk is a different thing that usually happens if the card is left onstream and subscription is ended or cancelled.
Check card in eng menu with cable not connected, if it says ok you may be ok, if it says not paired then its false.

check in the eng menu if the card is paired to the box, then u can unlooper, otherwise Jtag is needed

Hi

If the subs for the box is cancelled then it could have had a "deac" hit which the bk can only be retrieved via jtag for the 4000 box.

If lucky and its not had the "deac" hit card will be locked and you will have to unloop card to retrieve the box details and hope bk is good but without unlooping you wont know either way.

Unless you want to forget about unlooping and go down the jtag route.
