Hi Everyone
I'm new to cablePC ... so please be kind. Are there any tutorials explaining how to watch cable on your pc? I have vermin cable and a wireless network at home ... is this all i need or do i need to buy extra hardware and learn some programming - i dont know any at the moment. I guess my basic question is can anybody do this and is any special equipement needed thanks. PS - its more out of interest than anything else ... we have vermin tv ... so its more something to try for fun. Thanks ... I look forward to hearing from you all. Zigs |

the threads in this forum are better than any tutorial out there. so use the search feature as much as possible. ill give you a few key words to try help with that. there are a couple of options you can try to get cable on your pc, you can go with the tt-1501 and softcam (vplug) route or get the floppydtv c/ci and use a hardcam such as an ice crypt or blue zeta with the joker firmware. the second option is more expensive but it will be the only way to get cable tv using vista media centre. next you have to think about the application your going to use to view the cable coming into your pc. are you happy using a keyboard and mouse to change channel? or have u got a pc setup that uses a remote control similar and works similar to how your stb performs? have a look round and give us a shout with you next questions |

Hi Safe-Cracker
Thanks for your post ... I will have a long read/rsch and will most certainly be back asking some more questions! ![]() Also, I have heard about doing stuff to your modem so that you can get faster download speeds. Is this true? If so, can it be done in the UK and can the uninitiated try it? Somehow I think i know the answer to the last question ... ![]() Thanks again! Zigs |

Recently a loophole was found that does allow one to acquire much faster broadband than the package you are on. However, I wouldn't bother since a) vgin are throttling torrents anyway and b) unlike getting additional channels; it's totally detectable.
