Default Got satellite, no box....want to watch UK TV.

Moved into my flat last year and the owners were so kind to leave a satellite but no box. It's only now i'm looking to try and get Brit TV here.

I live in Spain. North West. 1 hour north of Barcelona. City is called Manresa. Will probably get the box next month which seems to be 100 euros.

Here is the help i need, if someone can be so kind.

Any box will do? Or is there one specific?

Which direction should the dish be facing? North south etc etc.
Read somewhere to pick up the free channels, (only ones i'm interested), BBC 1,2 etc plus ITV i need it at a position of 28.8E? is that roughly roughly true anywhere in Spain or would like to change?? And just realised i suppose would need to face East as it said E. correct??

Would I need anything else??

Your help is much appreciated.
Many thanks guys

Charlie

Hi,

use Satellite Finder / Dish Pointing Calculator with Google Maps | DishPointer.com, zoom into your location, enter the sat you want, and it will show you which way the dish has to point with a green line.

Your main problem may be dish size. To get BBC ITV etc you will need to receive from Astra 2D, which is focussed on the UK.

Check here:-

PRO-TEC AERIAL SERVICES LTD | Domestic & Commercial TV Aerial & Satellite Installation Services
(scroll down on the left hand side of the page) to get an estimate of the dish size needed.

Any FTA digital Satellite receiver will do the job with sufficient dish size.

The panasonic digibox is always reputed to be the best for spanish ex pats. Check with a local installer for dish sizes, and ensure decent installation. My mother lives in Moraira has 2m dish and experiences some channels that only work at certain times of the day. She is further down though.

Looks like you may be lucky and get away with a 0.8m near Barcelona (from the Map)
