Default Faulty Modem/tuner?

Hey guys, last night I was lucky enough to be given a presumed dead webstar 2100r2.

It was manufactured in 2008, so pretty new, really, making it hard to believe that its a tuner issue!

Here goes.. The modem was given to me with haxorware 1.0 rc6 flashed onto it already, and the issue at hand is simple.

No matter what frequency I choose, it will not - in any way shape or form, sync with the network.

It fails to lock onto any frequency for my area, and i even tried others from outside my area, just on the off chance it could be that.

Any ideas why this modem cannot sync at all?

I have tried factory defaults, and have practically mirrored the settings from a working modem (which is running haxorware 1.1 rc31) yet still won't lock on!

Lucky in the sense that I needed a new challenge, and fast..

May I be 'newby' enough to ask what the above will actually do?

EDIT: Also, it hangs, alot, in the gui, or loading the gui, is it possible this is a result of a bad flash, would it be worth flashing to latest revision by telnet?

well, you might know that diff modems have diff tuners, and thus, we have to tel the firmware what tuner type we have.

ambit 200 = tuner type 14
ambit 250, 255 and sa2100 = tuner type 19

some of the surfboards and the like have 21 and stuff.

annex is something to do with the network your on, as you are in pure ntl, your annex is a

Learn something new about these buggers everyday.

Thanks for info mate, muchly appreciated.

I still ask, if the above fails to correct the issue, could updating it to the latest revision solve the issue.

AFAIK, the modem worked fine with stock firmware from what my mate has been telling me, and if we can get it working, it'll be a new project modem, for mods etc to be tested on - anyone with any requests for webby 2100 tests/fixes to be performed (provided we can bring it back to life) please let me know, I need to fill my time!

EDIT: What are the differences between DOCSIS and EURODOCSIS annexes? Thanks XD

You did say you were bored, fancy an investigation?

Anyone else got some serious technical data on the Docsis + EuroDocsis specifications, and perhaps an outline of the differences.

I am also very interested in learning about the CMTS, snmp and in general, the way that the cable modem system works on the whole.

Knowing bits here and there like i do now is fine, but it doesn't help me when I get stuck, thankfully you guys have alot of answers, time and patience, something i appreciate
