hello
![]() ive a 4001 here thats completely dead, nothing happens when i plug in the power lead. i had a nosey round the board and noticed a blown resistor/transistor/capacitor/thingymajiggy, dunno what ya call it, lol. anyway, the part thats knackered, is inside the heatsink (i think its a heatsink), the curly metal thing that stands up from the board. the front of the part has completely blown off and theres no writing or numbers or anything left to identify it, all i know is that its a three legged thingy that screws onto what i think is a heatsink on the power side of a 4001 board. anyone here know what this part is to see if i can find a replacement , or better still a maplins part number ? cheers lads. p.s. i love these 4001 boxes, lol.

Ain't got one of these but if yer get stuck then pm me and I'll repair it BUT best bet is take it to maplins and show it em and they will know which VR to give you, don't worry about them sussing yer got a naughty box cos 99% of these dudes at Maplins have the boxes as well, they are just like us.

I may be wrong also but I don't think the psu is a seperate suply and is all joined to the main board, if this is so then u can't just put another psu in it, u would therfore have to replace the blown components, so take a look in yer box and let me know if it's all on 1 main board. yea but yer need to put a multimeter on the suspect components and then when you locate a blown diode, capacitor, voltage rectifier or whatever then replace the faulty one and yer box will work if you know what you ae doing. AJ |

cheers for the replies lads
![]() on this 4001 box its all on one board, a 4010 has a separate power board which is easily swapped out. i opened a mates 4001 box last night and had a nosey at the VR in there, on it, it said ' H116 TOP223Y 15746A PHIL '. i dont think that helps me at all tho, you'd think they would print something usefull on it like ' 1 amp positive ' or something, lol.if anyone knows which part i need from the link i posted above, let me know please. (second hand parts never seem to work for me) once again lads, cheers for the help
