Starview 4 first use - no channels?

Hi,

I just bought a Starview 4, and tried scanning before and after flashing it to 1.07 but I can't pick up any channels.

I believe I have a live feed as I can get a number of channels if I connect straight to the TV. They're all slightly grainy, however.

Can anyone offer any advice as to why this is happening?

To load the files just drag them or download and save on to a memory stick and then put the memory stick in the USB port
at the back of the receiver. Then press the menu button on the remote there you will see USB
at the bottom of the screen. Just highlight USB with the remote then you will see the
(Box Super USB Bin file) appear on the screen. Highlight the Box Super USB Bin File with the
remote and press th ok button then you will see the file start loading in to the Box.

After you have uploaded the software from your memory stick,

• Plug the box in to the TV using the usual scart lead.
• Turn on the box, press menu and go to installation,
• Select correct provider i.e. NTL, C/W or TW
• Then automatic scan
• Once the channels are found, exit back to the blank screen
• Press menu (ignore what is on the screen) and press 1 5 7 0, this takes you to a secret menu,
• Go down to emu/key and turn it on.press default key
• Now exit and wait for it to store all the data.
• That’s it, have fun one more thing do not FORGET to TURN THE SV4 OFF at the back before you connect and disconnect the memmory stick

check all leads scart n live feed,,,try at another house with live feed.....check u ve flashe d with ur local cable provider try another if not workin ....make sure keycode n default r turned on ....if all fails do a factory rest .....or reflash n do a factory rest

Thanks for the reply - I followed those instructions when doing the firmware upgrade and that all worked fine.

Still not getting any channels on search, no matter which provider I use, and I have tried two different leads to the wall.

Yeah, have done that and tried scanning again. Would have expected to at least get some FTA channels surely? There's just nothing found!

Maybe I need a signal booster? I have one for an aerial, not sure if it would do the job... or could I be only receiving analogue and not digital signals? I am definitely in a digital area though.

Nope, I only just moved here and I'll only be here for 6 months so the 12 month contract doesn't really appeal to me... can't get Freeview because there's no aerial on the house and it would take a very strong outdoor aerial to pick up a signal in Northants.

Plugging the TV in to the cable socket gives me some channels, UK Living, Eurosport, some with a Virgin logo... so I figure I'm hooked up to it?

could be wrong but it looks like its a no-go. cant understand why you get some stuff direct to your tv. someone here will know.

try this menu system setup> factory default >ok >password 0000 >press ok> english ok >automatic scan ok >down to ntl ok> and let it scan if it picks any channels up then menu 1570 turn key code to on and exit to s*y sports 1 and let it update
it sounds to me that some setting has been altered in nagravision

Hi,
I tried this - it still doesn't pick anything up after a factory reset. Turning keycode on makes no difference
