Unreadable text on putty - Ambit 250.

Any help is greatly appreciated!


I have an Ambit 250 which I'm attempting to flash. I'm using a USB to serial converter with the correct drivers (successfully flashed other things). I've used console unlocker v1.1b and this appears to of 'worked'. When I connect via putty afterwards with the correct COM setting etc and attempt to 'p' – all of the text that comes up is unreadable and makes no sense, with the occasional thing that is readable such as 2007 or something of the like. I can take a screen shot if needed.


Any help/suggestions would be great.

make sure your max232 is put on right pins m8
pin nearest the middle of modem should be showing
if writting is not showing turn your max232 round

Yeah had a think about that mate. I think I have my wires crossed (literally) haha. Does it matter if say, the green wire on one side is not on the same 'slot' on the other side of the wire?

The pin nearest the blue ethernet port should be covered? Just wanting to check - been reading mixed opinions.

yes cover the pin nearest ethernet and yes colours as far as i know has to be on corect pin

There should be a max232 pinout in the downloads.

Check your cable is correct for the modem, in this case the ambit.

If the pinout for the cable is wrong, you can change them round using a flat head screw driver to release the pins from the little plastic header.
