Default config files encrypted?

Modem went down this morning and was only getting 2mb when unforcing the config, so i changed the mac to one i had lying around and unforced config and getting 20mb again but only when hard-wired to the modem, when i go wireless i only get 10mb/s why is this?

What has happened is when i now sniff for MACs i am finding the config files are encrypted or something??? Also the TFTP servers are all different now.

Can someone please explain... what has changed???

Cheers

yes you can use them, pay no attention to the configs they are now dynamic. you need to connect and see what speed they give you

Simple really, either your wireless router or wireless adapter is working at maximum capacity, whereas ethernet (direct connect to the modem) can support twice the speed and data throughput of most wireless devices, unless you use wireless N (108mpbs, which will now almost on a par with wired 100mbit connections, provided signal levels are good).

Also, you wireless adapter may not be setup to handle the data appropriately, have you checked the Full Duplex/Half Duplex settings? If its configured to one, try the other, if its on auto, try both, but unless you do have wireless N, its unlikely to match the speed which you gained by the ethernet lead.

Wireless is always slower. I max at about 12mbps on my laptop's wireless.
