I've been advised to try a PCMCIA to serial connector. I'll let you know if that solves my problem.

I'm experiencing the same problem but I'm not convinced its the USB/Serial cable or com port settings as I can connect them to a Eurovox and have no issues. I have also checked that the soldering is correct as mentioned earlier. I have tried the different flashing procedures plug in/switch on/red red standby and no joy. A second issue I have is that when I do a scan it fails, it does not appear to be receiving the signal and the cable works fine when connected to the Eurovox . At this stage I suspect the A750 is faulty but I'm open to any suggestions.

Stop blaming the box mate, cos the only thing thats faulty here IS YOU and all the others who are having problems doing a simple job, how much more advice and help do yer require, if you follow the advice on how to do these boxes then yer will have no problems.
There have been some very good guides here on how to do one of these boxes.
I will reiterate again it's not a faulty box, it's a faulty person who can't do a simple job, so put yer thinkin' head on and take yer dumb one off and get on with it instead of keep moaning can't this can't that, box is faulty pc's faulty, usb leads faulty, null modem leads faulty, yer makin a simple job hard and worrying other novices on here with these coments.

Ronster has put it very simple for you all on how to do these so if yer still stuck then see Sticky: Easy Guide to updating the A700c and a750

One other thing on this issue, Joelondon and gosey are the main culprits on this issue by keep blaming the box, if other newbies see these coments they are gona be convinced that it's down to a faulty box and be takin em back to the supliers when theres rock all wrong with them.

See you got out of the right side of the bed again this morning jambuttybut on a serious note he's quite right lads it won't be the boxes. If you just plug em in and get the fta channels its working ok.From there you need to read the guides.Yes some peeps do have issues with the usb-null adapter especially when running vista but there's always a way around it.Just read and read again and it'll come to you.Ronster and jambutty know these boxes inside out as do a few of us and the advice your getting will get the boxes going.

Look, mate, I work in IT, I know how to install a driver, I can configure a com port and I can effing well read the instructions. Why is it that you're so quick to flame people on this forum? I've been nothing but courteous to other members.

For the record: I am not blaming the box, the box is probably fine. When I have exhausted all possible fixes I may then blame the box, and possibly Jambutty.

Now wot hav I said!!!

Seriously though I am not flaming anyone, but a point mentioned here I have overlooked (Vista operating system) this may very well be the issue cos Vista is nothing but problems, if I were you I would install windows xp on the pc and this could be the answer, also anyone else with these problems (have u got vista as well) if so problem found, it's prob down to vista.
Sorry if I upset any people with my comments on this.

Where's the Sorry Button?
