a friend brought me a 2110 to fix and when plugged in it doesnt power up.
so i assumed it would be the power pack, so i changed this and still nothing? he said the boxwas working fine but the numbers on the screen were jumbled and since powering the box off it has never came back on. is this just a case of the board dieing? thanks cal |

There are 3 different PSUs for the 2110 and only the correct one will work in each box even though they all look similar!
Its probably the psu thats knackered m8 (probably the capaicitors)but it will need replacing with the identicle one |

you could just locate the faulty capasiter , it will have popped or buldged , make a note of the numbers ( voltage , uf etc ) pop down to your local maplins or rs centre and get one for a few pence only

As g80878 says just replace the caps, its best to replace all 6 as they only cost pennys and all might not show sighns they've blown
Replace them with 1000uf 105c 16v as theres less chance of them blowing again than the original 10v

I would do as ronster says and upgrade the lot , just pop into the local store and tell them you want the ones suggested , i couldn't see an exact match but they have plenty instore . There is a guy on flea bay item no. 350186763533 who sales packs of six 1000uf 16v caps for £2 inc delivery if all else fails but maplins should be able to sort you out
