I found a working modem outside of my UBR in another town i brought this modem home coz it looked brand new and i thought it might work as from the condition.......anyway what i wondered is can the modem be turned off by virmin as i think of virnins network as a map and unless they can send signal down every path that it cannot be turned off unless they know what ubr it is on ??
any help would be much appreciated. |

Yes they can turn it off, and I would recommend not connecting the cable modem to your connection. They can tell the address in which the signal is being sent to if I'm correct.

Or we would all be screwed. It's a completely different system to BT where each line is isolated. |

I moved 2 years ago, same ubr, took my old subbed 200 with me, it worked fine, kept waiting for vm to turn it off. Moved again 6months later different ubr did'nt work, gave it to a mate in first ubr worked ok,he used as a spare.Lost all my connections here past few weeks so picked up the old 200 from my mate, tried it again no joy,so i tried the legit mac off of it,been going strong for 30 hours now fingers crossed, the longest mac i've had running for weeks, plus you have a spare modem to mod
