Question Two dishes one receiver?!

Dear Colleagues,

I’m a newbie to the whole satellite business and need a little bit of assistance.

I’ve just purchased the Technomate TM 5400 CI USB Super receiver. At the moment, I use ex SKY dish for it (panting at Astra 2D)
I also have Cyfra+ decoder hooked up to the 80 cm dish pointing at Hotbird satellites.

From what I gathered, the TM 5400 can read Cyfra+ cards due to the multicrypt card reader.

My question is: is it possible to connect two dishes to one receiver (the TM 5400)?

I’ve read that I would need a Disecqc which for it, but I got really confused about the committed or uncommitted switches.

Which one would I need? Also, I’m planning to motorise my system at some point. In that in mind, what switch should I buy?

Thank you in advance.

Just get a 2 Diseqc(committed) switch,for the cheapest option.
Such as these
For a motorised setup, you do not need a diseqc switch.

SAT-WORLD,

Thank you for a very prompt response. I will certainly look at these switches.

You may still find it useful to have a fixed dish at 28e. I find my motorised points at 1w most of the time, to watch 28e I don't need to wait for the dish to move. Also if you ever go for a PVR a fixed dish will be really usefull as it will allow you to watch a chanel on say hotbird and record from 28e.

Just one more thing.

Can install the switch at home or does it need to be cloe to LNBs?

My dishes are quite apart and not sure is I could installed outdoors.

It can go anywhere, just at the back of the receiver if you want.
