Default Equipment and set up cost?

Hi, just wondering(as I have an old non subscribed Pace box here)-back in the days when I knew nothing about Eurovox's and thought Knock off Nigel actually chipped the boxes, and not flashed them ) what would be the initial cost of getting all the equipment so I could reprogram the funcard?

If its cheap(£20-£40 for all the equipment) I wouldn't mind buying a kit, but if its not cheap(£50+) then I dont think I'll bother until Im a little richer

A basic Funcard Programmer will set you back about a tenner. All the software you need is available from this site so just get yourself a Funcard Programmer and you are away .

Thats all I need? No unlooper, powersync etc..?

and as for the basic fun card programmer, have people had any success with them compared to the Infinity USB phoenix/unlimited ones?

Also whats the difference between the basic/phoenix programmers?

You only need the unlooper to unlock original cards, a Funcard Programmer does exactly what it says - it programs Funcards . the Infinity USB Unlimited does most cards including MOSCs and Funcards, I use this one but it costs around £40. TMC sells a Funcard Programmer which will do the job, it's £7 I think. It uses an LPT interface so you will need a parallel port available on your PC.

aah, I think I will need to get an Infinity USb then as someone else( a friend) has the same box but the smart card says NTL on it, so Im assuming its MOSC?-I wouldn't have to unlock it would I, but just reprogram it?

It's an OSC to start with (Original Smart Card). It will definateley need unlooping unless it's a ROM11 B09. It becomes a MOSC (Modified Original Smart Card) once it has been programmed.

You can detect the card in Nagra Edit and it will tell you the ROM and Revision, It's unlikely that you will have a ROM11 B09. You will most likely have a ROM10 A86 or a ROM11 B0D. The B09 can be unlocked by sending a simple d2c script to it in Nagra Edit. You can use BoxGetPC2 to get the BK before you use the script as it will totally wipe the card.
