Default MAX232 Help

Hi Guys,

I finally got my MAX232 adapter, I tried it this morning and I am at another dead end. I followed the LnyxModemPatchComp document, but when I connect the power to the modem nothing happens in the terminal window. I have tried moving the cable to different points on the modem and flipping it around (my cable is not colour co-ordinated so not sure which one was black.

I have tried it on two modems, one which was on infinite (250) and the other which used to be on infinite now on haxorware (255).

Any help/advice what I could be doing wrong.

Thanks

Have a look in the downloads section and read up using Haynes cable modem guide...

No worries about last weekend :-)

Yes I using Hypterterminal, and the correct COM port. I have tried this on both my PC and an old Laptop with serial. I got the MAX232 from ebay from a seller with very good feedback. I was supplied with the Ambit cable and some files on a CD (most of which can be downloaded from the d/l section).

I have read through the Haynes guide again and there is something there about restoring compatible bootloader - will have a try at this tonight.

If no joy then I would appreciate it if I could try yours out too.

Many thanks

even if the p option has gone (modem took the alex or betty update) you will still get output in hyperterminal window.

Thanks Toolzkit that is what I thought - I am not getting anytihing in the terminal window. must be doing something wrong then.

I have setup my IP, setup the TFTP server, then setup Hyperterminal with correct com port, then power modem up (with both MAX232 and ethernet connected) and nothing happens in Hyperterminal window, both modems are the same.

Any ideas on what I may have missed out? I have read through the relevant sections of the Haynes but nothing sticks out to say Ahhhh.
