hi guys.
before you post your answers please note: i am a newbie. i dont know anything about tvs or sateliites and stuff like. on your answers please dont use words that only a person familiar with stuff like would know as i will not understand it. right. i am moving to a new flat, and at the moment i cant afford to pay for digital tv. i know someone that is selling a chipped box for £150, and i cannot afford that either, therefore i would like to know how to do it myself. can anyone give me detailed step by step instructions on how to chip a virgin box. this includes the stuff that i need to buy to actually do it. at the moment i have nothing. when i say that i mean i dont have a virgin box to chip. and i dont know wether the flat i am moving to has a live connection. so please give me step by step instructions on how to do it. # and remember, i am a newbie. thanks |

Well for starters you need a box (obviously), if you want to stay simple, go for a Starview or Eurovox that has already been set up and updated. Don't jump in at the deep end just yet, use the search button to find what you need and how.
Read the posts that the kind people of this forum have put up to help people like you learn. Remember, we all started off in the same boat as you, all it takes is a little searching and you will find what you are looking for. |

Hi
As blakey has said go for a 3rd party box like he mentions or a simple easy user friendly box like the arnet kryptview which also has good support when required. These 3rd party boxes dont need any special skills just a pc with a serial com port connection, a cable and if you can follow the many guides out there be able to flash latest firmware to box and away you go, once flashed just a question of scanning for channels. Try and read up on the boxes mentioned. Regards |

ignore all of above.if you do not know if you have a live cable feed, find out. you will have to pay for a basic package.tv, b/band or telephone.then you can consider getting a box. if you cant get a live cable feed, forget it...btw, chipping a box is complicated for a newbie!!!
