Hi Ian,
Yeah, defo the correct cable, I even had the guy check with his boss at the store. Just in-case.
I also got in contact with Technomate, but am still waiting for them to get back to me.

Heres a link to the one I got

Swap - /Module.aspx?ModuleNo=97740 in place of the Home.aspx at the end of the Maplins Home page address

Sorry if its a bit confusing, I havn't made enough posts to add a proper link yet.

Yep, that looks to be the correct one

Serial Null Modem 9-Pin Female to 9-Pin Female > Maplin

It's ages since I've loaded software to a TM, make sure you have the right com port as it won't auto find if the box is turned OFF.

If you really stilll can't get it to work, there is a guy on the Darkside who repairs them, can't remember his ID.

Cheers Robbo,
I reckon Ive used the right Port,
Something else I did, was to go through all the com ports as I tried the fix. lol.
With regards to the chap on the Darkside, I am waiting for Technomate to get back to me with some ideas of their own, but, I will see if I can find him out for backup.
Thanks again chap!

Just had a quick thought,
Do'es it matter if the reciever is not attached to the dish when trying to repair? When I tried, it was only attatched via null modem cable to PC. Receiver - PC
lol, sorry if silly question, just clutching at straws now.

Ive tried on two different PCs now, for some reason neither wants to talk to the reciever. Im sure Ive got the right cable, and following all the instructions correctly. Hey-ho, If I can't get it sorted soon, I will have to call Ian, to buy another one. lol
Have also just ordered another null modem cable, just incase the maplin one is no good! Will keep you up to date with findings.

To check if it really is a null modem cable, connect it between two pcs and use hyperterminal or similar....

Glad you got it fixed.

Strange the one from Maplin didn't work though.
