Unhappy Latest patch screwed my TM 5400?!!!!

I need urgent help!!!!!

I tried to load the latest MAGIC patch 5400CI_5600CI_SUPER_126p_17-04-2009, I started according to the manual written by MrVEE: copied patch and softcam to FAT32 USB Key. Went to USB / Data Transfer and choose the patch. It started loading, and then the STB went off. I thought it was a part of the proccess. However, I cannot pwer it back on. When I try to power it on, the led lights go briefly from left to right, and that's it. Nothing else.

Is there any chance I could bring it back to live? It's a brand new box.

PLEASE HELP?

Regards.

Yes, go back to a proper technomate patch, load it using a null modem cable, and the TM Loader.

Start the loader with the box OFF, turn it on immediately after the loader has started.

This should help,

though it is an older model, but gives you the general idea

Robbo,

Thanks a lot for that.

I will do that as soon as I get a null modem cradle.

I'll let you know.

Again, much appreciated.

It's recommended to do the first flash on a new box by serial cable rather than USB, also make sure you have the correct flash - ie Super or non-super.

Sorry if Im hijacking this thread, will move if needs be.
I've had exactly the same problem, but with the latest TECHNOMATE patch TM5400CI_5600CI_SUPER_111_06-03-2009.stb. Same problems with regards to not powering back on and 4 green lights going left to right.
Ive tried the "fix", but in my case its not working, I was at the PC a good hour trying it, don't suppose you've got any more ideas?
Ive only had the box 2 days, and this is my first attempt at this satellite hobby! And Im not ready to give in yet!
Cheers

What exactly did you do, and what happened when you tried it?

I know it works on the TM1000 models as I have stuffed mine a number of times, and it always came back.

Hi Robbo, thanks for taking an interest,

ok..
Gear

Technomate 5400CI+ USB Super+ Receiver

1. I first downloaded the latest patch, (Techanote-TM5400CI_5600CI_SUPER_111_06-03-2009.stb)
2. I then used the USB Method to load the .stb onto the receiver.
The receiver went through the motions of updating, and switched off, (I guess into standby),
3. I left it for a couple of minutes, (went to make a cup of tea), came back in and went to switch it back on with the Standby button on the remote. Nothing.
4. I then tried switching the receiver off/on with power switch at the back. Nothing, bar 4 green lights on the front panel moving left to right.
5. Panicked!
6. Read through nanochickin's thread for recovering TM1000.
7. Went to Maplins and purchased a Null Modem Cable.
8. Followed instructions to the letter, using Receiver specific software, and patch.
9. The software just wouldn't recognise the box, like I mentioned, I was trying a good hour.
a. Tried pushing connect and switching on at the same time.
b. Tried pushing connect, then switching on shortly afterwards.
c. Tried pushing connect, waiting for the green lights to appear, then switching on.
d. Tried switching on, then pushing connect.
You get the picture, lol, I was quite thorough.

Ive got a feeling Ive got a door stop.

Thanks for looking chap! Tom

Are you sure you bought the correct RS232 cable from Maplins as I made a mistake once and got one but it was not a Null modem type and would not talk to the receiver?

Best ones are the ones off ebay for 99p
