HI GUYS AND GALS , LOOKING AT BUYING A MODEM OFF FLEBAY JUST WONDERD WHICH ONE IS THE BEST/EASYEST TO MOD ITS FOR VM , ANY HELP WOULD BE GRATE

I've done a sb4100 & sb4200 and both were pretty easy. One had a locked firmware and I had to use the bitfile method (tutorial on here).

Get a SB5101 or a Webstar 2100.

The reasoning behind this is that they are pretty much unbrickable as they have JTAG points and MAX232.

FYI: Jtag is how you revive a dead modem without any firmware being on it.

Cheers for the reply's guys are all these modems capabul of recieveing a so call 50meg , i say so call because i understand that its a max and only a possability that i will recive that cheers fray

No u dont get 50mb i know ambit 250 clonck out about 38mb not sure about other's. But u will get 20mb on all of them and that is the max u should be using.

All the current modems that we use on here are NOT capable of getting 50 meg. About 38 is the max that they support, however, 50meg configs have not been working now for some time.

I find sb5100s simple to do but would stick to 20 meg or below.
