looking at 192.168.100.1 on my 50MB modem....the config file is ;kfoA,.iyewrkldJKDHSUB ?

do a google search and it comes up with some cisco password cracker program?

Could this be the encryption method out the window for docsis 3 :S ?

Yep I'm gonna give that C script a go tomorrow.

Don't know how much it will help but I should be able to decrypt the config file name to plain text if it does what it says on the tin.

Also, if you read into it, this encryption method that Cisco have devised is apparently inherently weak.

Those configs are single use only, they contain a 'shared secret' (different every time) which must be sent back to CMTS (after decryption by your modem)....no match...no reg.

You can just dump the decrypted config data from your modem once you're online anyways...just not much point in doing it.

I testes it.....

All that script does is decrypt the config file name.
