Default Telnet, tftp advice wanted

Hi guys,

thanks for reading.

I am trying to connect to my SB5101 via telnte/tftp to upgrade the firmware but I am having trouble connecting to the modem.

I would be very grateful if someobe could point me in the right direction (perhaps a tutorial).

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Thanks,

Owen

Any chance of giving us a run down on what has happened so far?

Thanks for your replies.

This is what hapenned, My SB5101E and SB5100i went off about 2-3 weeks ago. I managed to get the SB5100i back online but it went off yesterday.

I would like to update the firmware on both of these modems but I do not have a JTAG cable. Upon reading through articles on this and another forum, I have learned that it is possible to update the firmware via telnet/tftp.

However, using telnet/tftp is all new to me but I have managed to connect via Hyperterminal and I have been playing around with commands to disable BPI and SNMP Registration.

My SB5101E currently uses Haxoware 1.0RC3 firmware and I would like to update it to Haxorware 1.1 REV31. My SB5100i is using Sigma X2 Fersca 104 and I'm not sure if there is an updated version (will Haxorware work on a 5100i?)

Any advice would really be appreciated.

Thanks for taking the time to read this post.

In the Haxorware firmware download there is a readme.

I can't remember the exact commands, but in the readme it tells you how to upgrade thru telnet.

Hope that help!
