I installed a Floppy DVB-C today, tuned into all of the channels then got the "No Data Available" response in the EPG.
Then after watching a few channels the EPG started to update with guide data.!! including the Sky channels... This happened very slowly, over the course of about 30mins while flicking channels etc..!!! SO, Is the EPG issue solved in 7100..?? I have to add that i had installed an analogue card previously and had the guide data.. But, that card has been removed prior to my FloppyTDV being installed... I now have the EPG Auto updating on virtually ALL of the channels with no messing around with the TV settings.!!!!! Mort.. |

Exactly. One thing they changed in the TV Pack was that it gets the OTA guide by default, which is limited to whatever is broadcast.
Personally, I think that the full 14 day guide was one of the killer features of MCE, and they've taken a big step back. You can get round it by installing an analogue TV Card and telling it you're hooked up to a STB, OR a DVB-C Card with BDA drivers (which won't get you channels, but will get recognised as a DVB-C card) then it will allow you to download the guide. Someone said that if you set it up, then pull the card that's not in use, it stays set up, so if you have a FDTV-C, you could install it with the non-MCE drivers, setup MCE, install the MCE drivers. It's a long shot, but it might just work... Alternately, look for a cheapo Dual tuner DVB-T/Analogue, use one tuner to do the guide trick, the other to supplement your FDTV (if you one have one, that is). |

Thanks,
I've ended up using the Analogue card option. The OTA 12 hour EPG is pretty useless for setting up TV series to record, You pretty much have to wait till the night a TV program is on to set the series to record. Which is a pain in the bum.. Plus if you don't watch any TV for 12 hours when you come back there is no EPG and have to wait quite a while for it to download. Plus Windows 7 has some great features that make use of the EPG in the "Movie Library" section. So, if MCE recognises the Floppy DVB-C card as a Cable card, then downloads the EPG, will it not tune the channels in from the cable feed.?? I've got mine set up as a DVB-T with the MCE plugin from Digital Anywhere at the moment.. Mort.. |

Hi, yes it is pretty crap, tbh. Struggling to understand why MS do it, even with DVB-T.
No, installing the non-MCE drivers won't get you channels, unfortunately. Digital Everywhere say the type of Cable tuner that the TV Pack/7MC support is so different for DVB-C that they couldn't use/frig that type to get native DVB-C. Don't understand it all, myself. |
