Hi guys i have my ps3 connected to my network. I recently downloaded an AVI file which wouldnt play on the ps3, i converted the file to divx and set up divx settings on the ps3. Now the file plays on the laptop on WMP11 but wont play on the ps3.

Any advice would be great cheers

Do you have the latest firmware on your PS3? I don't think the older firmwares have DivX support built in, I might be wrong so somebody please correct me if I am

Hi mate just had a look i'v got the 2.2 firmware but have just been looking it seems there is a newer version 2.6 but there is lots of people having problems after updating.
Anyone else updated and had problems?

I managed to get them working, they still wont play over my network for some reason but when i transfer the files to my usb pen i can watch them that way.

jst to let you know the fastest way to convert AVI to DIVX is to rename .avi to .divx done in seconds, when playing media over the network on your ps3 the movie file must be in a sharing folder on your pc, i have the latest update on my ps3 and ive no problems.
