360 Flashing In 2009?

Heya, sorry i know i should of searched i had a few searches and only found old threads. due to my 360 only being about 10 months old from the shop. i didnt want to use old techniques and mess anything up. also a friend has asked me to chip in for a £40 tool (which i have no idea what it is).

it was to my knowledge no tool was needed if you had a Via 6421 sata chipset (which he does).

i am starting to think deeply about this as he has not done it before, and when i could have it flashed for £40 anyways, im also sure another one of my mates has a Via 6421 chipset.

the main thing is, i have no idea what i am doing, i have looked all over the internet and found many guides on opening the 360, and found software for using a USB as a floppy disk drive to flash the firmware.

and i was under the impression that there was new drives that are harder too flash?

is there any drive out for the xbox 360 which requires something you cant download apart from the Via chipset and whats the safest method of flashing the Xbox 360

i am just about to take my faceplate off to see what drive i have

any help is greatly appreciated

Liteon drive require probing which requires additional hardware which you most likely have/

Do it in windows using Jungleflasher

he can make one for about £1 if you was as leet as you think you are you would know this !!

yes. of course he can but it seems he is not technical enough

Get ck3 lite, and make own probe.

For probe, all you need is a needle, some wire and some duct tape

yeah i rang him this afternoon and he told me it was the CK3 / xtractor lite he wanted to get.

strike would you mind giving a explanation of the probe and making it. i might just be being over cautious but who isn't

forgot to add we both have Liteon drives

If you get the CK3 lite

Then get wire 11 from the power dvd connecter, from one side just get the wire 11, cut it in half, strip a little from both sides. Connect it to the needle, pin, making sure both side of the wire are touching the metal. Tape it up there. And probe is made.
