Default patches and softcam

Hi all!!

I have a technomate 5400CI USB super and i am looking to update the patch on it (box came patched- Dec 08). I have been looking through some forums and they talk about patches and softcams...what is the difference between the two? Also can someone give me some advice on how i should go about doing this??

Put them on a USB stick, shove it in the receiver and press some buttons on the remote. I don't know which buttons, as I've not done one, but you would have to acces the USB stick via the menu.

The patch is the software, the softcam is a file containing the CAS info to populate the table stored in the receiver.
