Eurovox PVR - Recording from EPG

Just got a Eurovox EX5100 with 120GB HDD. When you set something to record from the EPG does the box need to be a) switch on or will it still work in standby. b) does it need to be on the right channel, so if it was on Sky sports 1 and I had set the box to record something on Sky sports 2 would it switch the channel over.

I thought I had set a recording correctly and turned the box to a different channel and then switch it to standby and waited to see what would happen. When it was due to record, it switched the box on for a few seconds, no picture showed on the TV then it switched itself back off. It kept doing this for a few minutes, in the end I switched the box off at the back and it all came back on, minus the recording.

What was that all about?

If I just hit record it works fine.

1. I believe standy is ok (sure someone else will correct me if not)
2. It will switch itself to the channel with a quick warning, i think it was 20 secs or so incase you're viewing at the time.
3. A few people had a few bugs the first time using record, some people had to do a quick manual record to get the HD recognised, as you have now done, so hopefully all will be fine now.

I doubt that PVR will record from standby. I am using the pvr from long time and I have never seen it recording anything from standby. It stays off when i come back. so I always keep it on !!
