Default Astra 3A problems receiving some frequencies

Hi All

I'm having problems picking up some frequencies on Astra 3A at 23.5E. I get around 50% signal quality and 75% signal strength on 12605V and 12605H. If I scan 12605V I pick up all channels and can view them but this only seems to be at certain times. For example if I go to BBC Prime in the late afternoon it is fine. If I check it late at night or early morning, I get sporadic signal quality and almost always no signal messages on my receiver. If I scan 12605H, I pick up no channels at all at all times. I have an Mvision HD200 Combo with a 1M Orbital dish. I'm located in the Midlands just north of Birmingham. I have checked the footprint for 3A and know that it is focused over Germany and the very tip of the south-east coast of the UK so I guess I am lucky to pick up anything at all but I just wondered if anything happened on these frequencies at these times or if it was just me.

Thanks

Foseco

No chance with a 1M Orbital dish, you need 120cm minimum. Some 1m dishes 'may' pull 3A signals in different times of the day ok.
It's down to dish size.

Yes, those freqs are fairly weak, though I can get them OK down here. About the same strength as I normally get from 7W.

Try 11625V, I'm sure you'll find something a little stronger there.

Thanks for the replies. I think when I have the money I will upgrade my dish. @satelliteman, any idea for the different times?

Varies with weather conditions and location of course.
